LAP-STOP™ Silence the Waves. Sleep Better.

LAP-STOP™ Silence the Waves. Sleep Better.

Mar 02, 2026

A peaceful night at anchor is one of boating’s great pleasures.

The sun drops. The bay settles. The generator goes quiet.

And then it starts.

That repetitive slap of water against the bow. The hollow echo through the hull. The rhythmic thud that travels straight into the V-berth and keeps you awake.

If you’ve ever owned a yacht or cruiser, you know exactly what bow slap sounds like — and how frustrating it can be.

That’s why we developed LAP-STOP™ — a purpose-built floating wave attenuator designed to reduce water lapping noise at the bow of your vessel.

What Causes Bow Slap at Anchor?

When a boat sits at anchor or on a mooring, even light swell, passing boat wash or tidal movement creates small waves that strike the forward hull.

Modern hull designs — particularly sharper entries common on yachts and cruiser boats — can amplify this effect. The bow effectively becomes a sound chamber, transferring wave energy into the hull structure and into the cabin below.

The result?

  • Disrupted sleep
  • Fatigue on longer trips
  • Reduced comfort at anchor
  • Less enjoyment of overnight stays

For many boat owners, it’s simply accepted as part of boating.

We believed there was a better solution.

Introducing LAP-STOP™ –Floating Wave Attenuator

LAP-STOP™ is a floating wave attenuator device that sits forward of your bow while at anchor or on a mooring.

Its purpose is simple: absorb and disrupt wave movement before it reaches your hull.

By reducing the direct impact of water against the bow, LAP-STOP™ helps minimise the noise and vibration that cause sleepless nights onboard.

Designed for Real-World Boating

LAP-STOP™ (Patent Pending) has been engineered for yachts and cruiser boats up to 50 feet.

Key Features:

  • 3 metres of coverage each side
  • Durable inflatable marine-grade construction
  • Non-marking materials safe for your hull
  • Weighted cylinders supplied to hold the device securely in position
  • Compact storage in a canvas bag (approx. 1m x 50cm)

The weighted cylinders stow neatly in a locker, and deployment is quick and straightforward when you drop anchor.

No permanent fittings.
No hull modifications.
No complicated setup.

How LAP-STOP™ Works

The principle behind LAP-STOP™ is straightforward marine physics.

Wave energy travels across the water surface and transfers force when it strikes a solid structure — in this case, your bow. That force becomes vibration, resonance and noise inside the hull.

LAP-STOP™ acts as a floating buffer zone.

Positioned in front of the bow, it absorbs and disperses wave energy before it can make direct contact with the hull. Instead of a sharp impact against fibreglass or aluminium, the energy is softened and broken up.

The result:

  • Reduced hull resonance
  • Less vibration transfer
  • Lower noise levels in the cabin
  • A noticeably quieter V-berth

It’s not about eliminating the ocean — it’s about reducing the disruption and improving onboard comfort.

Developed by a Boater, Not a Boardroom

LAP-STOP™ wasn’t created as a concept exercise.

It was developed out of genuine frustration after too many restless nights at anchor listening to water slap against the bow.

As boat owners ourselves, we understand that every item onboard must earn its place. It needs to be:

  • Practical
  • Easy to store
  • Durable in harsh marine environments
  • Safe for your vessel
  • Worth the space

That’s exactly what LAP-STOP™ delivers.

Silence the Waves. Sleep Better.

LAP-STOP™ (Patent Pending) is more than a boating accessory.

It’s an innovative marine solution designed to reduce water lapping noise, improve comfort at anchor and enhance the overall boating experience.

Because the best nights on the water should be remembered for the sunset — not the sound of waves hitting your hull.
